Naichr Wall & Ceiling Board Installation

​

Naichr wall and ceiling boards are installed using standard plasterboard-style dry-lining methods to suitable framing or battens.

​

Boards are fixed using screws and Bostik Wallboard Gold adhesive, with screw fixing as shown in the Naichr technical sheet. Where board joints do not land on studs or framing, use stitching battens / backing battens to support the joint.

​

External corners should be finished with suitable ali corner beads that allow panel to fit into beading, to eliminate flushing. Final surface finishes may include suitable mineral, lime-based coating systems, depending on the project requirements.

​

Naichr board corners and wall junctions can be finished in two ways, depending on the desired look of the project. For a conventional finish, aluminium beads can be used and flushed in a similar manner to standard plasterboard systems. For a more natural architectural finish, proud timber beads or future Naichr beading options can be used to highlight external corners, internal corners and top-of-wall details, this can be  a stronger system on corners . This gives designers and builders the choice between a clean blended finish or a visible feature detail that adds warmth, character and a distinctive natural appearance to the wall system.

Naichr 8 mm board sits in the same broad supply-cost category as specialist MgO, fibre cement and structural board products, while offering a natural hemp-based internal lining option.

Some MgO and cement-based boards can be dusty, abrasive and uncomfortable to cut or handle, particularly where reinforcing mesh or mineral fibres are present. Naichr board systems are intended to provide a more natural internal lining option with easier handling, cleaner installation and a warmer architectural finish.

Naichr Boundary Fencing Installation

​

Naichr boundary fencing is designed as a modular post-and-panel system for fence heights up to approximately 1.8 m, subject to site conditions, wind exposure and final engineering requirements. Before installation, set out the fence line and position posts to suit the required panel size. The Naichr system is designed around generally equal panel spacing, with post centres allowing approximately 5 mm clearance greater than the panel width, helping avoid small cut panels at the end of a run where possible. On last panel you may need to trim panels or rails to the required size

​

Post holes should generally be dug to a minimum depth of 600 mm, with final depth to suit soil conditions, fence height and wind loading. Naichr posts can then be positioned level and true. Posts may be set using suitable concrete or stabilised backfill methods, depending on project requirements. Unlike timber posts that can shrink, rot or create water traps inside concrete footings, and unlike metal posts that can corrode over time, Naichr posts are designed to be resistant to moisture damage, rot, rust and termites.

​

Installers may set all posts first where they are confident with the layout, or work progressively panel by panel. Once posts are secure and aligned, Naichr panels or rails slide into the  receiving channel of the post. Panels are then seated into position and secured with stainless steel screws as required.

​

Where the fence line is on sloping ground, the bottom panel may be cut to suit the required angle. This may alter the visible fence height at one end of the panel or create a gap beneath the panel depending on the fall. A practical method is to run a tight string line approximately 150 mm above the ground, lifting the line where the slope changes direction. The fall can then be measured using a level or laser. For example, if the total fall is 400 mm over five panel bays, divide 400 mm by 5, giving an average fall of 80 mm per panel. This means one end of a panel may sit close to the ground while the other end may have an approximate 80 mm gap underneath, depending on site condition, this will allow you to know what the gap is and take required steps to cover gap a product that suits ,bricks or make a small concrete or timber plinth

​

After completion, level disturbed ground where practical, remove excess soil, and wipe down any soil, cement or residue from the Naichr posts, panels and rails. Final details may include end posts, corner posts, top finishes, caps or trims depending on the selected Naichr boundary fencing system.

Naichr Boundary Fencing Systems

Naichr boundary fencing systems are designed as modular post-and-panel fencing solutions for residential, rural and boundary applications. The system uses Naichr posts with female slots that allow panels or rails to slide neatly into position, creating a clean and consistent fence line.

​

Naichr fencing is suited to projects where durability, low maintenance, natural materials and long-term outdoor performance are important. Unlike conventional timber or metal fencing systems, Naichr posts are designed to resist rust, rot and termite damage, making them a practical option for Australian conditions.

Why Modular Post-and-Panel Fencing Works

Modular post-and-panel fencing systems are designed to make installation cleaner, faster and more consistent. Instead of building a fence piece by piece on site, posts are positioned first and panels or rails are then fitted into the post slots to create a straight and repeatable fence line.

​

Naichr boundary fencing uses this approach with posts designed to hold panels or rails in the female section of the post. This helps simplify installation, reduce on-site cutting where panels are set out evenly, and create a strong, clean fencing system.

Because Naichr posts are not timber or steel, they are not affected by rust, rot or termite attack in the same way as conventional fencing materials. Hemp Board Panels Australia — Why Naichr Is Different

Australian construction has relied on the same familiar internal wall and ceiling lining materials for decades.

But building products are changing.

Naichr is developing a new generation of hemp-based wall and ceiling panels designed to provide a tougher, more durable and more sustainable alternative for modern Australian construction.

Made predominantly from hemp shiv fibre with a natural resin binder, Naichr panels are designed for use on internal walls and ceilings in residential and commercial buildings.

What Are Naichr Hemp Board Panels?

Naichr wall and ceiling panels are made from approximately 90% hemp shiv fibre, with the remaining content comprising natural resin.

The result is a lightweight hemp-based panel designed around familiar building and installation methods.

For a standard 2400 mm × 1200 mm panel, the current Naichr panel weight is approximately 10.7 kg.

That equates to around 3.7 kg per square metre, making the panel relatively light and easy to handle on site.

Why Look Beyond Conventional Plasterboard?

Plasterboard has been used successfully in Australian buildings for many years, but it also has limitations.

When exposed to significant moisture or water damage, conventional gypsum-based linings can soften, deteriorate and lose strength.

Ceilings damaged by leaks or storms may require complete replacement.

Naichr is being developed to provide a tougher alternative.

Its hemp-based composition is designed around:

  • water resistance

  • resistance to deterioration

  • resistance to rot

  • resistance to twisting and buckling

  • termite resistance

  • improved durability

  • long service life

  • resistance to everyday impact and damage

Rather than simply recreating another plasterboard-style lining, Naichr is being developed as a new type of natural-fibre construction panel.

Designed for Walls and Ceilings

Naichr panels can be used as internal wall and ceiling linings.

The aim is to make adoption straightforward for builders and installers already familiar with conventional sheet products.

This includes compatibility with common fixing and finishing methods, while providing the benefits of a hemp-based panel.

Water and Moisture

One of the major areas of development for Naichr is improved resistance to moisture.

Conventional wall and ceiling linings can be vulnerable when exposed to water from:

  • roof leaks

  • plumbing failures

  • storm damage

  • condensation

  • accidental water ingress

Naichr panels are designed so they do not readily soften or turn mushy when exposed to moisture.

That can provide an important durability advantage in both residential and commercial applications.

Mould and Indoor Environments

Moisture and mould are major concerns in Australian buildings.

No building product should be treated as a substitute for proper ventilation, waterproofing, drainage and maintenance.

WHAT ARE VOCs — AND WHY DO THEY MATTER IN YOUR HOME?

When choosing building materials, most people look at strength, appearance, price and durability.

But there is another question worth asking:

What is this product releasing into the air inside the building?

VOCs — Volatile Organic Compounds — are chemicals that can be released into the air from some building products, finishes, adhesives, paints, sealants, furnishings and manufactured materials.

Some VOCs may only be noticeable as an odour. Others can contribute to poor indoor air quality, particularly when several emitting products are used together in a tightly sealed building with limited ventilation.

WHERE CAN VOCs COME FROM?

Depending on their formulation, VOC emissions may come from products such as:

• Paints and coatings
• Adhesives and sealants
• Manufactured boards
• Flooring products
• Cabinetry and furniture
• Synthetic finishes

This doesn't mean every manufactured building product is unsafe.

This is important.

Where a manufacturer makes a specific low-VOC, zero-VOC or emissions claim, it should ideally be supported by appropriate testing.

Noise is becoming a bigger issue in modern living.

Traffic, trucks, machinery, construction, commercial activity and increasingly dense residential areas can all affect the comfort of homes, workplaces and outdoor spaces.

That is why acoustic performance needs to be considered as part of good building design.

KOSP is developing Naichr natural-fibre acoustic panels as a practical alternative to more conventional noise-control systems.

Our current Naichr acoustic panel system has achieved approximately 36 dB sound reduction, demonstrating the potential of hemp-based materials in applications where noise control is important.

 

What does 36 dB reduction mean?

A reduction of 36 dB represents a substantial change in sound transmission through a barrier system.

In practical terms, reducing unwanted noise by this level can make a noticeable difference to the comfort of spaces affected by road traffic, machinery or other external noise sources.

Acoustic performance will always depend on the complete system, including panel thickness, installation method, joints, supports, overall wall construction and the type of noise being controlled.

For that reason, Naichr acoustic panels should be considered as part of a complete acoustic barrier system rather than simply as an individual sheet product.
